Sexual Assault Resource Center
WELCOME
The Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC) was established as part of the University at Albany’s commitment towards ending sexual assault and relationship violence. SARC, in keeping with the University’s efforts, is committed to the belief that the right to live free of violence and fear is one all people should experience. In the aftermath of a sexual assault or relationship violence, SARC and other campus resources are available to assist the diverse needs of any survivor and to also assist those seeking to provide support to survivors.
SARC also provides diverse services that educate, support, motivate and empower students, staff and faculty with regards to sexual assault and relationship violence. Programs for students incorporate topics that raise awareness about sexual assault and relationship violence; define and discuss consent, coercion and sexual assault; the interplay with substance use; and address optionsfor individual and community action to help prevent and eradicate these violent behaviors. For faculty and staff educational trainings on the University's Coordinated Response protocol are provided throughout the year. SARC also trains and oversees an all male group on campus called Men REACH who assist in providing programs for students.
SARC is fully supported by the University at Albany Office of the Vice President for Student Success in its commitment to model creative leadership, promote campus civility, and nurture mutual respect based upon the principles and practices of nonviolence.
