Commuter Student Resources
UAlbany recognizes and is dedicated to supporting the unique needs of commuter students. The Transfer & Commuter Lounge is located on the first floor of the Campus Center and is a large, welcoming, and relaxing space equipped with lockers, study desks, and comfortable seating areas to accommodate commuter students. The lounge also serves as a social hub for transfer, commuter, and non-traditional students to meet, plan activities, and study. A bulletin board is kept current with social and academic information that relates directly to commuter and transfer students. UAlbany’s dining services also offer four different plans that are designed to meet the needs of commuter students. For more information on these meal plans visit http://www.dineoncampus.com/albany/.
The Driving Force, a commuter and non-traditional student organization, holds regular meetings in the Transfer & Commuter Lounge with special guest speakers and time to meet and socialize with fellow students. The group also serves as advocates for the special needs of commuter and non-traditional students. The Driving Force welcomes new members and reminds commuter and non-traditional students that it is easy to join the group on UAlbany's Student Group Web site, MyInvolvement.org. Throughout the school-year, members receive emails containing information about commuter-related meetings and school events. For more information, email the group at drivingforce@albany.edu.
