Graduate Scholarships
If you are awarded a Graduate Tuition Scholarship by your department, don't forget that you must apply for a New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) award if you are a New York State resident. TAP is a tuition grant for graduate students whose previous year's New York State combined net taxable income from the student and parent if dependent, or student and spouse if married, is $20,000 or less. If you are single and emancipated, the net taxable income ceiling for TAP eligibility is $5,666.
If you know that you are ineligible for TAP because your last year's income exceeds the ceiling, please sign a TAP ineligibility affidavit before a notary public, and submit the form to the Office of Student Financial Services, Campus Center B-26. There are notaries available in the Office for your convenience. Unfortunately, until we know the actual amount of your TAP award, or until we have your signed ineligibility affidavit, we can credit only a portion of your scholarship to your account -- not the full amount you were awarded.
Please note that this scholarship pays for all or a portion of tuition charges; payment of fees is your responsibility.
