UAlbany Strategic Planning Town Halls

To focus the discussion at these meetings, we will be featuring the work of specific "data teams" that have been collecting information about five different elements of the environment in which our university is situated:

Economic and Environmental Trends: What are the critical economic realities that we need to be aware of? What does state funding look like? How do we fare in obtaining research funds? What kinds of programs do our students want?

Social and Political Trends: What are the interests and concerns of our city/region/state? What is the education agenda of the nation? How will we contribute to the Obama vision for educational attainment? What do we need to know about the students and workforce of the future?

Higher Education: How do we compare with our higher education peers, on such dimensions as funding, support, students, and faculty? Why do students, faculty, and staff come to UAlbany? If they leave, why, and where do they go? What are the new models of higher education we should be aware of?

Stakeholders: Who has a stake in UAlbany? What are the experiences of our stakeholders? Where do they envision UAlbany in the future?

Institutional Strengths and Weaknesses: What are UAlbany's programmatic strengths and weaknesses, relative to our peers? What is the quality of our faculty, staff, and students? What can we build on? What can we reduce?

The meetings will focus on a set of these elements (and, of course, comments on all topics are welcomed):
