How to Identify Positive New Member Activities
Make the following inquiries of each activity to determine whether or not it is hazing.
- Is this activity an educational experience?
- Is this activity in line with my personal values or the values of my organization?
- Does this activity ensure emotional and physical safety for all involved?
- Is this activity something I would want to share with my parents, to a professor, or a university official?
- Would I be proud to be photographed during this activity?
If the answer to any of these questions is "no," the activity may be hazing.
