School of Social Welfare’s (SSW) Center for Excellence in Aging & Community Wellness Received Two Grants from NYS Department of Health

SSW’s Center for Excellence in Aging & Community Wellness (CEACW), led by Distinguished Professor Phil McCallion and Lisa Ferretti, received two grants from the NYS Department of Health as part of the Balancing Incentives Program targeting long-term services and supports for Medicaid recipients. CEACW will lead and evaluate a community effort to build services and supports to reduce the impact of Type 2 Diabetes in the South Bronx and to reduce the impact of Type 2 Diabetes among persons with existing disabilities (based in eight Independent Living Centers throughout New York State).

Dr. Blanc RamosDr. Blanca Ramos Received SUNY Grant

Dr. Blanca Ramos, chair of the baccalaureate social work program, received a grant to promote a blended/online option for baccalaureate students from more distant regions in upstate NY. This grant from SUNY provides funds for a faculty member and a part-time staff member to address the high needs in the state relating to health and behavioral health.

 

Dr. Robert Miller Received Grant from NYS AIDS Institute

Dr. Robert MillerDr. Robert L. Miller, Jr. has received a grant from the NYS Department of Health AIDS Institute to explore the decision-making of NYS HIV-negative black men to determine how they sustain their serostatus. These data will support the development of culturally relevant statewide HIV prevention efforts for other Black MSM.
