Disaster Resilience Grant Extends Rural Community Work

Professor Loretta Pyles and studentsAssociate Professor Dr. Loretta Pyles has been awarded a three-year $399,650 research grant from the National Science Foundation’s Disaster Resilience in Rural Communities competition.

The research is a comparative study of disaster-affected rural communities on the U.S. Gulf Coast and in Haiti.

The findings will culminate in the production of a practical applications guide and training for those working in disaster recovery settings internationally.
