Programs and Registration Information

All registration is online only and payment is via Visa, Mastercard or Discover. Cost to attend varies and some events are free if not requesting CEUs. See event descriptions for more detail. Clicking on the course title will bring you to a more complete description and a website for registration and payment. Scholarships are available for students and new practitioners.

All programs are located at the UAlbany Downtown Campus unless otherwise noted. Directions and parking instructions will be given after registration.

University at Albany, School of Social Welfare, Social Work Continuing Education Program is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board of Social Workers as an approved provider of continuing education for Licensed Social Workers - #0011

University at Albany, School of Social Welfare & School of Education, Continuing Education Program is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Mental Health Practitioners as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed mental health counselors. #MHC-0039.

Online Courses or Workshops:

Online courses can be found on the "Online Workshops" tab on the left side of the website. Please note that there is a limitation of 12 continuing education hours for social workers or licensed mental health counselors in a 36-month registration period, or one-third of the hours for a registration period other than 36 months, for self-study courses.

UAlbany Field Instructor Discount:

Practitioners currently serving as field instructors for UAlbany BSW or MSW or LMHC students are eligible to receive CEUs at a 50% reduced fee. Training provided by SSW and required of all field instructors (such as the Seminar in Field Instruction) also carries CEUs. More information will be provided to current field instructors. Field instructors are eligible for the discount only they are currently supervising a student. Current field instructors will receive a “promotion code” from the field office which needs to be entered on the registration website in order to receive the discounted rate.

Program completion requirements:

To receive continuing education contact hours (CEU’s) for programs provided by the UAlbany SSW/SOE Continuing Education Program, you must arrive by the advertised starting time, and you must stay until the end of the program. Per the New York State Education Department, we are not able to provide credit for partial attendance.

Refunds and cancellations:

Cancellations received in writing at least one week prior to the course start date will be refunded minus a 20% administrative fee. Cancellations received after this time are not eligible for refund. We cannot transfer your registration to another class or another person. To request a refund, please contact It may take up to 4 weeks to receive your refund. The University reserves the right to cancel or modify any continuing education workshop. In the event that UAlbany SSW or SOE cancels an event, you will receive a FULL refund.

Registration Confirmation:

A confirmation email will be sent directly to you following a successful registration. Please be sure to provide us with a valid and correct email address. An additional confirmation will be sent approximately one week prior to the program with parking pass and directions to the site.

If you would like to receive news and information about upcoming events that are part of the UAlbany School of Social Welfare CEU Program, you can sign up for our listserv notifications. Accommodations and special needs:

Accommodations for persons with special needs may be requested by contacting us at least three weeks prior to the seminar you plan to attend. Every effort will be made to accommodate participants. Requests received after this date will be honored where possible.
