MSW Student NYSDOH Certified Navigators help with enrollment in health insurance

UAlbany Navigators help navigate health insurance options for Albany, Columbia, Greene, Rensselaer, and Schenectady County residents.  Based in the School of Social Welfare, New York State Department of Health certified Navigators assist individuals in signing up for health insurance through the New York State Marketplace.  Our Navigators help individuals and families to explore health insurance options and to enroll in the best health insurance plan for their health care needs.  The Navigators are available 7 days a week at convenient locations in Albany, Columbia, Greene, Rensselaer, and Schenectady Counties and can schedule appointments based on an individual's availability.

The UAlbany Navigators assist in comparing health plan options, answer questions, and help enroll in a health insurance plan. There are many affordable, good, health insurance options for everyone!

Open Enrollment begins November 15 for enrollment in a Qualified Health Plan (QHP)

The Open Enrollment period begins November 15 until February 15. Open enrollment is for anyone who is in need of health insurance. We are currently accepting appointments for this Open Enrollment period. Contact us today at navigator@albany.edu or at (518) 442-3854.

   

Special Enrollment is on-going

Special Enrollment period is a special period that is income based through Medicaid expansion or through  a qualifying life event-- birth or adoption of  a child, divorce, loss of employment, or the death of a family member.  Special Enrollment is year round.

  • There are many insurance plans to choose from, UAlbany Navigators help you at a convenient location or on campus to compare plans on the NYSOH Marketplace. 
  • If you have a family and would like health insurance, our navigators can help look at options for your family and compare different plans.
  • Many plans have little to no co-pay for services like wellness visits and family planning and low co-pays for prescriptions at as little as $1.00! 
  • If you have coverage through your employer, there are options available that might be affordable and still offer great coverage—let us help you look at the plans available and compare what you currently have to what is available.
  • There is a “starter plan” for adults under 30. This plan is specifically designed to include 30 benefits at a low cost—these are attractive to students (graduate or undergraduate) who may no longer be on their parents’ health insurance plan. 
  • Remember Special Enrollment period for Medicaid and Child Health Plus is open now! 
  • Open Enrollment begins November 15—This means everyone can look at all plans available and make the best choice available for them.
