Master's in Social Work (MSW) Program
What can you do with an MSW from UAlbany-SUNY? Today's graduates lead government agencies, administer hospitals, direct nonprofits, hold senior positions in business, advocate for changes in social welfare policy, and build thriving private practices. Their success in social work careers comes in part from the structure and content of our program:
- Students gain the fundamentals of assessing and addressing social needs at many levels: with individuals and families, small groups and policymakers.
- They specialize in either clinical practice or organizational management (also known as MACRO: Management Efficiency, Advocacy and Empowerment, Community Building, Resource Development, and Outcome Evaluation).
- In each semester, they work in the field - integrating evidence-based practice skills, cultural competence, and classroom concepts - at one of our hundreds of community partner agencies.
