Online Workshops

Welcome our online workshops! Please be aware that online courses typically count towards self study continuing education hours, unless the online course is live and the participants can interact with the presenter and/or other participants in real time. Per the New York State Education Department, self study hours can only comprise up to one-third of the continuing education hours for each registration period. For an example, during a typical three year registration period, self study hours can only make up 12 of the continuing education hours.

School of Public Health Online Courses:

The UAlbany School of Social Welfare’s Continuing Education program and the UAlbany School of Public Health’s Center for Public Health Education program work together to provide social workers and other human service and public health professionals with quality online courses and opportunities for learning.  The social work licensure regulations require us to differentiate between “self-study” online courses versus “live” online courses. Since these courses are first live and then can be watched on demand we are unable to differentiate whether participants have watched the live or recorded versions due to current technological limitations. Therefore we must stick to more stringent criteria for social workers obtaining their continuing education hours in order to not jeopardize the standing of the School of Social Welfare’s Continuing Education program as a provider of continuing education hours.

Please note that the School of Public Health online courses are free of charge. As of 1/1/17 these courses are approved for SW continuing education only. They DO NOT carry LMHC credit.
