Addressing Youth Homelessness

On Monday February 16, 2015 the School of Social Welfare's Professor Hal Lawson and doctoral student Lisa Wilson-Goode hosted the Innovative Policies and Practices to Address Youth Homelessness: An Important Exemplar from Australia.  The discussion was facilitated by Dr. Michael Coffey, the Chief Executive Officer of yFoundations-an Australian organization dedicated to addressing youth homelessness and  Dr. David MacKenzie, professor at Swinburne Institute of Technology and a leader in this organization's Institute for Social Research (IRS).

Together Drs. Coffey and MacKenzie have been progressively improving a special, school-linked approach to addressing the needs of homeless youth.  Called the Geelong Project, it currently is being scaled-up in other parts of Australia.  To learn more about this project click here.
