HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year varsity starter... Averaged 16.2 points and 8.0 rebounds per game as a junior... Guided West High to the Central Section Division III semifinals after posting a triple-double with 19 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds in a first-round playoff game... Named All-Area Player of the Year by the Bakersfield Californian... Named the Southwest Yosemite League’s Most Valuable Player.

 

PERSONAL: Intends to major in criminal justice... Daughter of Eric and Ann McGee... Has two brothers, Eric, Jr. and Tristan, and one sister, Tierra... Born July 26, 1988.

 

 

 

#3 Ashley Lindsay, 6-1, Freshman, Forward

Moreno Valley, Calif./Canyon Springs

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year varsity member ... Averaged 10.6 points and 6.7 rebounds... Led the team with 21 blocked shots... Named an All-Ivy League selection... Earned scholar-athlete honors... Nominated for McDonald’s All-American accolades... Team posted a 20-8 record in Division I-A and reached the second round of the California Intercollegiate Federation Tournament.

#4 Sarah Hayes, 5-6, Sophomore, Guard

AS A FRESHMAN (2005-06): Made the team as a walk-on prior to the start of the season... Played in 19 games... Averaged 1.2 points per contest... Scored a career-high six points to go along with two rebounds and three assists at Stony Brook... Grabbed a career-best four rebounds and had two steals at Boston U... Handed out two assists at Hartford.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Averaged 16.4 points, 8.0 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game as a senior at Columbia... Finished as the third-leading scorer in school history with 898 points... Broke the program’s single-game assist record with 11... Named to the Times Union and Troy Record All-Area Basketball Teams as a junior and senior... Voted to the Suburban Council All-Star Team and the Channel 13 All-Area squad... Honored as the Gatorade Player of the Year and team MVP as a senior... Received NYSPHSAA-Section II honors as a sprinter on the track and field team... Four-year member of the soccer team... Received varsity basketball scholar-athlete award four straight years... Will sit out the 2006-07 season due to personal reasons.

 

AS A SOPHOMORE (2005-06): Played in six games, making five starts... Missed the majority of the season after suffering a concussion against Columbia... Was averaging 12.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.3 assists prior to injury... Scored a career-high 26 points at Army... Reached double-digit point totals in four of her six appearances.

 

AS A FRESHMAN (2004-05): Appeared in 21 games as a rookie... Finished as the second-highest freshman scorer with 2.9 points per game... Scored eight points and recorded four rebounds and three steals in win over Hartford... Had eight points to go along with three assists and three steals at UMBC... Dished out five helpers against Vermont... Credited with one block in win over Air Force... Tallied three points, one assist and one steal in tournament game against New Hampshire.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Played point guard all four years... Averaged 24 points per game as a senior... Three-time selection for All-District 21-5A First Team... Helped lead team to first district appearance in six years... Voted team’s most valuable player three times... A 2001 AAU National Qualifier... Nominated for the 2004 Junior Olympics... Also ran track and played one season of volleyball... Member of the volunteer Clean-Up Crew.

#13 Devran Tanacan, 6-4, Sophomore, Center

AS A FRESHMAN (2005-06): Played in 25 games, making six starts... Averaged 3.0 points and 2.6 rebounds per game... Reached a career-high eight points on two occasions, first at Siena and again versus Boston U... Grabbed a career-high eight rebounds against the Terriers... Made six straight starts for the Great Danes in conference play.

 

CLUB: Played for club team, Fenerbance, while in high school... Averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds in 2004-05... Was a team captain for three seasons.

 

NATIONAL TEAM: Played for the Under-18 Turkish Junior National team that placed sixth at European Nationals in 2005... Averaged 3.8 rebounds per game for Turkey at Under-20 European Championships.

 

PERSONAL: Voted best 16-year-old center in Turkey in 2002... Selected as one of the "Best Five" players in Turkey in 2004-05... Majoring in psychology... Daughter of Bulent and Didem Tanacan... Is an only child... Born November 17, 1986.

 

#15 Sherri Mikus, 5-11, Junior, Guard

AS A SOPHOMORE (2005-06): Team’s top returning scorer... Played in 28 games, making 23 starts... Averaged 8.6 points and 3.1 rebounds per game... Also handed out 3.1 assists and grabbed 2.0 steals per contest... Netted double-digit point totals on 11 occasions... Recorded career-highs with 23 points and seven rebounds at Vermont... Scored 11 or more points in the final four games of the season, including a 19-point performance at Stony Brook... Also recorded six assists and three steals against the Seawolves... Scored 15 points and pulled down six boards versus UMBC... Tied a career-high with six steals at Savannah State and again at Vermont... Went 2-for-2 from behind the three point line at Connecticut... Made 7-of-8 free throws at Vermont.

 

AS A FRESHMAN (2004-05): Played in all 28 games, earning eight starts... Scored seven points to go along with two assists, three steals and five rebounds in her collegiate debut at Morgan State... Recorded seven points, six steals and six boards at Northern Arizona... Doled out seven assists against Air Force... Recorded seven points in win over Northeastern... Registered multiple steals in eight games... Team’s top freshman scorer at 3.0 points per game.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Averaged 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists as a senior en route to earning All-State Second Team Accolades... Holds her high school’s career record for points with 1,493... Also holds school records for career assists and steals... Helped lead basketball team to three divisional titles and the 2004 District III AAA Championship... Named all-league all four years... Earned all-state honors as a midfielder on the field hockey team that advanced to the state semifinals in 2003... Played shortstop on the softball team that won consecutive division championships... Participated in Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the school newspaper and student council.

#21 Tanya James, 5-6, Senior, Guard

AS A JUNIOR (2005-06): Played in 27 games, making four starts... Averaged 2.7 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists... Scored ten points on two occasions, once versus Morgan State and again at UMBC... Played a season-high 28 minutes at Savannah State... Grabbed a career-high five rebounds to go along with seven points against Vermont... Handed out five assists at Army.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2004-05): Played in 27 games... Started at point guard the second half of the season... Tossed in a career-high 11 points against American, making 4-of-5 field goals... Made first career three-pointer from beyond half court... Dished personal-best six assists in win over Northeastern .. Snagged four rebounds on four occasions... More than doubled her points per game average from 1.3 as a freshman to 2.8 as a sophomore... Tied for second on the team with 50 assists.

AS A FRESHMAN (2003-04): Saw action in all 29 games… Scored six points while grabbing two boards against Pepperdine… Scored first collegiate points in season-opening game against Siena… Had a career-high three assists in three straight games against New Hampshire, Northeastern and Binghamton.

HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year varsity member... Averaged 25.0 points a game during senior season... Served as captain during her junior and senior years... Named Most Valuable Player as both a junior and a senior... Led team in scoring, steals and assists... Guided Albert Campbell to the city championship all four years... Earned All-Star honors at the Seneca College High School tournament... Named one of the top five players in the central Ontario region by the Toronto Sun prior to senior season... Attended the Nike All-Canada camp as a ninth grader.

#23 Charity Iromuanya, 5-8, Freshman, Guard

HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year starter... Named to the Associated Press Class A All-Nebraska Second team as a junior... Averaged 10.6 points and 3.7 rebounds to lead the Rockets to a perfect 24-0 season and the Class A state championship... Was the state’s seventh girls basketball player to receive a Division I scholarship.

 

PERSONAL: Intends to major in social welfare... Daughter of Helen Iromuanya... Born November 11, 1987.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2005-06): Played in all 28 games, making 16 starts... Averaged 7.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and a conference-high 1.8 blocks per game... Recorded double-digit point totals in seven games, including a career-high 17 against New Hampshire... Grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds at Siena... Had eight points, eight boards and a career-best five blocks at Boston U... Shot 4-for-4 from the free throw line versus Morgan State... Scored 14 points, going 5-of-8 from the floor, including a 2-of-3 performance from beyond the three point line, and 2-of-2 from the free throw line versus UMBC... Scored 11 points, grabbed eight rebounds and recorded six steals, five blocks and three assists at Maine.

 

AS A FRESHMAN (2004-05): Played in all 28 games as a rookie... Averaged 3.0 rebounds per game... Scored eight points to go along with two boards and one assist against New Hampshire... Tallied seven points and two assists in win over American... Corralled eight rebounds in addition to scoring five points in win against Stony Brook... Managed at least one board in 26 games... Made a season-high two steals three times... Blocked two shots against Maine.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: A four-sport standout... Averaged ten points, nine rebounds and four assists as as senior... Helped guide team to a 27-3 record in 2003-04... Member of three Independent School League Conference championship teams... Voted All-Independent League as a junior and a senior... Named MVP at the Nike Boo Williams Camp in 2001... Ranked in the Washington, D.C. area’s top 70 seniors... Competed in hurdles for the track team and also ran cross country... Played one year of softball... Member of the Multicultural Club.

#31 Kristin Higy, 6-1, Junior, Forward

2005-06: Sat out the season ofter transferring from George Mason.

 

GEORGE MASON: Earned All-Colonial Athletic Association Academic Team honors in 2005... Started all 27 games, averaging 5.0 points and 4.1 rebounds per game as a sophomore... Set a career-high with nine rebounds against Hofstra... As a freshman, saw action in 27 games... Averaged 2.0 rebounds per contest... Scored a career-high 14 points against Drexel.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year letterwinner at North Canton Hoover... Served as captain her senior year... Averaged 9.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 3.4 steals per game as a senior... Team won Ohio Division I State Championship in 2002... Earned two letters each in volleyball and track and field.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2005-06): Played in 14 games... Scored a career-high four points to go along with a career-best two rebounds against Vermont... Handed out one assist on four occasions... Recorded one steal against Connecticut.

 

AS A FRESHMAN (2004-05): Played in eight games as a rookie... Netted first career three-pointer against Stony Brook.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Ranks third on school’s all-time scoring list... Holds her high-school record for career three- pointers with 90... Two-time All-Big Eight Conference First Team selection... Named to Division I All-Area First Team as a senior... Tabbed All-City Player of the Year as a senior... Member of track team that finished as the state runner-up as a senior... Also played volleyball for James Madison Memorial... Named All-City Scholar-Athlete and was the recipient of the 2004 Award of Excellence by the Women’s Sports Advocates of Wisconsin... Earned her high school’s Dick Shimon Top Female Athlete Award... Member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and Captain’s Club.

#35 Amanda Ward, 5-9, Senior, Guard

AS A JUNIOR (2005-06): Transferred from the Community College of Rhode Island... Played in all 28 games, making 15 starts... Averaged 8.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists... Set a career-high with 23 points at New Hampshire... Reached double-digit point totals on ten occasions, including seven straight contests... Scored 18 points to go along with a career-high nine rebounds at Boston U... Also netted 18 points at Vermont... Handed out a career-best five assists versus Stony Brook.

 

COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF RHODE ISLAND: Earned first-team All-American, all-region, all-district and all-New England honors in basketball and softball as a sophomore... Basketball team was Region XXI champions and finished third at NJCAA Division II championships in 2005... Averaged 18.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game as a sophomore... Averaged 10.0 points and 3.6 boards as a freshman... Team was Region XXI champions in 2004... Batted .622 with 18 RBI in softball as a sophomore.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Was a four-time letterwinner at East Hartford in soccer, basketball and softball... Earned all-conference honors in all three sports as a sophomore, junior and senior... AS A FRESHMAN (2005-06): Played in 27 games, making 26 starts... Averaged 4.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.2 steals... Set a career-high in her first collegiate appearance, pulling down 12 boards against Niagara... Recorded her first career double-double with 11 points and 10 boards versus Morgan State... Tied her career-high with 12 caroms against Syracuse... Netted 11 points at Binghamton and followed with a 10-point performance versus Stony Brook.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Transferred to William S. Hart from Alemany High School for senior season... Named to All-California Interscholastic Federation Division III-AA First Team... Earned All-Foothill League honors as a senior... Scored eight points and added seven rebounds and six steals in 20 minutes of action at the Battle of the Valley senior all-star basketball game, earning MVP honors for the East squad... Was named an adidas Junior All-American in 2004... Averaged 15.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game as a junior at Alemany... Earned All-Mission League honors during sophomore and junior seasons... Member of the National Honor Society.

#55 Kirsten Peterson, 6-4, Sophomore, Center

Owego, N.Y./Newark Valley

 

AS A FRESHMAN (2005-06): Played in all 28 games, making 14 starts... Started the first 13 games of the season... Recorded a career-high 14 points and completed her first career double-double with 11 rebounds at Charleston Southern... Had previously set a career-best with 11 boards in the first game of the seaon agaisnt Niagara... Scored double-digit point totals on three occasions... Netted 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds versus UNLV and recorded 10 points and pulled down eight boards against New Hampshire... Blocked a career-best three shots on three occasions... Shot 6-of-6 from the free throw line against Columbia.

 

2004-05: Sat out the season as a true freshman.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: A two-year letterwinner for the basketball team... Averaged six blocks a game during her senior season... Named to the All-Interscholastic Athletic Conference first team and All-Academic team... Voted a senior all-star... Earned WBNG-TV and WICZ-FM Athlete of the Week honors... Competed in the 400-meter run and the high jump for the track team... Also ran cross country... Voted most valuable player for both the basketball and track and field teams as a senior... Named the 2004 Student-Athlete of the Year... Member of the National Honor Society and Students Against Drunk Driving... Served as her senior class vice president and was a member of the student council.
