Student Handbook Cover Contest 2011 - 2012

Guidelines

The Student Handbook is a resource for UAlbany students that includes advice for academic success and information about traditions and activities on campus. The Student Handbook Committee is in search for a cover design for this publication that emulates the spirit and pride of UAlbany. For consideration, designs must reflect a positive representation of the spirit and culture of UAlbany.

Prizes:

  • The winner will have his/her design published on the cover of 9,000 student handbooks which will be distributed to All UAlbany undergraduate students in September 2011 as well as $250 in podium money.
  • The Runner-up will have his/her design published on the cover of 9,000 student handbooks which will be distributed to All UAlbany undergraduate students in September 2012 as well as $150 in podium money.
  • Two other finalists will receive $50 in podium money.

Specifications:

  • Create design using the template found here.
  • Logo can be used as either black (as shown on template) or white.
  • Submit artwork as either a JPEG or EPS file.
  • UAlbany colors:
    • Gold - R: 239 G: 179 B: 15
    • Purple - R: 69 G: 38 B: 99

Judging:

  • The Student Handbook Committee comprised of UAlbany staff members will choose four finalists with the most creative and school spirited design on March 16th.
  • From March 18th – March 25th students will be able to vote on the designs of the four finalists via the UAlbany Spirit Website at www.albany.edu/spirit.
  • The winner of the Student Handbook Cover Contest will be announced on April 1st, 2011.

The first Student Handbook Cover Contest held in Spring 2009 attracted the winning design of Christopher Bernal, class of 2012, which was featured on the 2009 - 2010 Student Handbook cover. The design of runner-up Kari Savage, class of 2012, was featured on the 2010 - 2011 Student Handbook.
