About Our Graduate Certificate Programs
The School of Public Health offers two certificate
programs: Certificate in Public Health Fundamentals
and Principles (CPH-FP) and Certificate in Public Health
Surveillance and Preparedness (CPH-SP). The Certificates
are aimed at preparing students for the continuously
changing challenges in public health. The design of
the two certificates programs acknowledges the emerging
need for creative educational modalities in public health
and allows students to take the required courses entirely online
or a combination of online and in class courses.

The Certificates may be used for a first look at public
health or to further enhance one's understanding of
the complexities of the field. Students who complete
the certificate may apply these courses to a degree
at the School of Public Health. In order to do so a
student must:
- Maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher while pursuing the Certificate
- Complete the courses within five years of application to the degree program
- Fulfill the admission requirements of the desired degree program at the time of application
The program offers tuition assistance to New York State and county health departments through the Public Health Management Leaders of Tomorrow (PHLOT) program.
