The New York State Health Department and the University at Albany School of Public Health offer opportunities for physicians and dentists to gain education and experience in the Public Health field:

Preventive Medicine Residency

The New York State Preventive Medicine Residency Program (NYSPMR) is jointly sponsored by the New York State Department of Health and the University at Albany (SUNY) School of Public Health. It prepares physicians for leadership careers in public health, providing a broad background in the academic and practical skills necessary to work effectively in the field.

Dental Public Health Residency

The Bureau of Dental Health provides a unique experience for dentists interested in pursuing a career in dental public health. Residents will be enrolled and/or have access to graduate programs of the School of Public Health and the vast resources of the Health Department, including some of the nation's best data banks.
