The Master of Public Health (MPH) in Public Health Practice provides an exciting opportunity for professionals seeking their MPH degree while working in the field of public health. Like our traditional MPH program,  this concentration provides a strong academic foundation in the core disciplines of public health and opportunities for students to apply knowledge and skills gained to real-world public health practice.

Program Details

Program enrollment is open to 20 students each fall and spring semester.  The program can be completed in approximately 3 years. All course work is completed online; there are no required in-person classes. The program is open to students with at least three years of experience in public health or a related health field.

Coursework

Courses include 21 credits in the core public health disciplines: epidemiology, biostatistics, public health biology, environmental health, health care organization, and behavioral science and a capstone project. Advanced courses (12 credits total) include principles of public health, public health education, program evaluation and leadership. In addition, students complete 9 credits from public health practice electives such as public health law, public health nursing, disaster preparedness and infectious disease epidemiology.

A hands-on 3-credit internship experience is required. Students may fulfill this requirement at their current workplace, but must complete a project beyond their normal job function or regular duties. *
