- School of Public Health Associate Professor Tim Hoff has been appointed by the Institute of Medicine to serve on a 12-person committee which will review and make recommendations regarding an update to the U.S. National Vaccine Plan.

- Edward L. Hannan, Distinguished Professor and Associate Dean for Research co-authored a report published in the January 2008 New England Journal of Medicine that concludes that for heart patients with multiple blockages, coronary-artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery is a more effective treatment than treatment with drug-eluting stents. - Louise-Ann McNutt, associate professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics has been named a Fulbright Scholar. Dr. McNutt will lecture at Tbilisi State Medical University in Tbilisi, Georgia from February 2008 to July 2008. View Announcement
- Joachim Frank, professor of Biomedical Sciences in the School of Public Health was named a distinguished professor by the State University of New York Board of Trustees. View Announcement
- A team of 19 School of Public Health graduate students, 2 alumni and 5 faculty traveled to New Orleans on December 29 to assist on rebuilding and public health projects related to the rebuilding the city following Hurricane Katrina. View Announcement (pdf)
- Friday, December 14, 2007 , 3 p.m., the University at Albany's School of Public Health held a tree planting by Nasim and Jafar Edrisi, an Iranian couple who have set off on a round-the-world cycle to promote environmental health and peace. View Announcement (pdf)
