"Today, the need for leaders
is too great to leave their emergence to chance."

Message from the Director
Dear Friends,
I am pleased that you are interested in learning more
about the Northeast Regional Public Health Leadership
Institute (NEPHLI). Since 1997, NEPHLI has offered year-long
experiential programs that build and improve the leadership
skills of public health practitioners and others who
are integral to building healthier communities. NEPHLI
benefits emerging leaders from state and local departments
of public health, social service agencies, providers
in community-based organizations, including health maintenance
and managed care organizations, and academic programs.
Through three
retreats, distance learning and networking opportunities,
the Leadership Institute provides Scholars with opportunities
to gain practical experience from experts
in the fields of leadership, public health and risk
communications. The core curriculum
include influencing others, collaboration, team building,
group problem solving, addressing cultural diversity,
advocacy and crisis leadership. Scholars also learn
to assess their own leadership styles and develop personal
plans for improvement. Curricula are tailored to meet
the needs of Scholars and address emergent issues. Our
alumni activities enable NEPHLI graduates the opportunity
to continue their leadership development.
NEPHLI is supported by the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention and our partner states: Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire,
New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and
Vermont. Feel free to browse
our site to learn more.
