Welcome to Health Policy, Management & Behavior

Benjamin A. Shaw, PhD, Chair
Through the Department of Health Policy, Management and Behavior, the School of Public Health at the University offers three degree options in two tracks for those who wish to pursue planning and leadership roles in public health: MS, MPH and DrPH in either Health Policy and Management (Health Administration) or Social Behavior and Community Health (Behavioral Sciences). With these, our students graduate to become health policy analysts, program planners and evaluators, health services researchers and managers, and health promotion specialists in the private sector, government and non-profit organizations. Currently, graduate placement in related health fields is nearly 100% within six months of graduation. To learn more about employment opportunities in public health visit www.asph.org and www.publichealthjobs.net.
Through each of these options, students gain strong analytical skills, knowledge of the health care and public health system, and public health experiences to prepare them to analyze, develop, implement, and evaluate health policy and health-related programs. This educational experience is enhanced through study with senior-level health practitioners and researchers who are directly involved in the formulation and implementation of health policy and management strategies.
Financial aid is available for qualified students through assistantships, field placements and internships.
