Assistantships and Fellowships

Graduate assistantships and full tuition scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to PhD students. Graduate assistantship stipends range from $22,700 to $26,000 per year. Most students are supported on faculty research grants by the end of their first year of full-time study. Students supported on assistantships and faculty research grants receive comprehensive health insurance.

Special fellowships and assistantships are also available for students from underrepresented groups.

The University at Albany also has many forms of financial aid including need based and merit based scholarships. For a list of current aid options please see the Funding Graduate Studies webpage.
