It is sponsored by the School of Public Health, the NYS Department of Health, the NYS Community Health Partnership, the NYS Association of County Health Officials, and the NYS Nurses Association.

This program provides a public health perspective on the issue of rape, including the impact of rape, the types of services provided within the community, and how these services can help re-empower the survivor of a rape. Speakers are Marilee Grygelko, Director of the Rape Crisis Program at the New York State Department of Health; Judith Condo, Director of the Albany County Crime Victim and Sexual Violence Center; and Rene Rovere, Director of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program at Albany Medical Center.
Objectives
As a result of this program, participants will be able to describe:
- The impact of rape
- The types of services provided within the community
- How these services can help re-empower the survivor of a rape.
Continuing Education
This Educational Activity is presented by the School of Public Health Continuing Education, which has been approved as a provider of continuing education by the New York State Nurses Association’s Council on Continuing Education, which is accredited by the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. It has been approved for 1.0 contact hours and has been assigned approval code 5TLL8T-PRV-04-004.
The School of Public Health, University at Albany, SUNY, is accredited by the Medical Society of the State of New York to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. The School designates this educational activity for 1.0 Category One credits towards the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
