HIV & Hepatitis C

Speakers:
Guthrie Birkhead, MD, Director, AIDS Institute, NYS Dept. of Health

Program Description:
Recent treatment advances for individuals with HIV have improved morbidity and mortality rates. While AIDS deaths are down, Hepatitis C is a growing concern for the HIV community. Common routes of transmission put HIV-infected individuals at high risk for co-infrection. The disease burden of HVC/HIV infection can be significant, especially in urban areas. Join experts from the AIDS Institute to learn more about what New York State is doing to address this emerging public health issue.

Satellite broadcast originally aired May 18, 2000.
