Emergency Planning on the Local Level

Program Description:
Local health departments are critical partners in emergency preparedness and response. Seven counties in Western New York have developed a regional approach to preparedness planning in an effort to create an efficient and enduring structure of cooperation that will make maximum use of limited funding in the region. They also hope that the model may be replicated throughout the state and the country as the nation faces the enormous challenges of homeland security. Dr. Tony Billittier, Commissioner of Health for Erie County, will discuss Western New York's regional efforts to address bioterrorism and other emerging health threats.
