David Shaffer, MD, a world-renowned child psychiatrist and expert on adolescent suicide, will present a comprehensive overview of what we know about the underlying causes of youth suicide and the early identification on an evidence-based mental health and suicide risk screening program, developed as a direct outgrowth of his research on adolescent suicide.

Dr. David Shaffer has been reimbursed for professional advice to counsel for Hoffman La Roche. He has also given advice without reimbursement to GSK, Pfizer and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals

School of Public Health, University at Albany, is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the New York State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
