Women's Health Grand Rounds
Preconception Care
Program:
Pre-pregnancy care is an increasingly recognized need with both clinical and public health significance. The goal of this program is to improve health care providers’ knowledge, understanding, and practice of preconception care as a means of improving pregnancy outcomes for women and children. The conference builds on a Preconception Care Curriculum developed at Montefiore Medical Center for the March of Dimes.

- describe the importance of routine preconception care
- list at least 2 potential benefits of preconception care on pregnancy outcomes
- identify at least 2 barriers that exist to providing preconception care with emphasis on “at risk” groups
- identify at least 2 risk factors in a preconception evaluation
- list at least 1 way to integrate preconception care into their routine practices
