Folic Acid Update for Pharmacists

Satellite broadcast originally aired November 13, 2003

This broadcast provided pharmacists and pharmacy students information on the pharmacology of folic acid and its role in the prevention of certain types of birth defects, called neural tube defects. It will assist pharmacists in developing and strengthening interactive strategies to inform patients about the health benefits of folic acid.

Objectives:
After the broadcast, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the pharmacology of folic acid.
  • Review the role of folic acid in the prevention of birth defects.
  • Develop interactive strategies to inform patients regarding the role of folic acid.
Funding for this project is from the Indirect Vitamins Purchasers Antitrust Litigation Settlement administered by the Attorney General.
