Healthy Children New York

Child Health Promotion Specialist Training

The NYS Department of Health, in cooperation with the School of Public Health, will present a 4-day training session for Child Health Promotion Specialists.

At the conclusion of the 4-day training, participants will be able to:
  • Explain the concept that each component of the environment in child serving organizations -- health, safety, social behavior, and intellectual skills -- is equally important, and no one component stands in isolation.
  • Gain knowledge and tools necessary to help child serving organizations provide children with the necessary support for healthy development.
  • Define consultation as applied to the field of child health.
  • Train child serving organizations in health and safety
  • Promote child health focused public health programs in the child serving organizations
  • Consult regarding prevention of communicable disease
  • Help parents and providers obtain needed health services
  • Understand the resources/supports for children and families available through other agencies and programs
