Transition of Healthy Child Care New York to Healthy Children New York

The NYS Department of Health, in cooperation with the School of Public Health, presented a series of three one-day meeting on the transition of Healthy Child Care New York to Healthy Children New York. The goal of these meetings was to provide continuing education and networking opportunities for county health department staff members who have served as child care health consultants and their partners in early childhood. The information provided will enable them to continue the process of improving the health and safety of children in child serving organizations.

At the conclusion of the session, the participants were able to:

  • Describe the transition of Healthy Child Care NY to Healthy Children NY and its potential impact on county health activities.
  • Identify access points for working with child serving organizations other than child care.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of activities undertaken in counties to improve the health of children.
  • Identify new training materials related to the administration of medications by child care providers.
  • Identify new resources for dealing with emerging public health issues.
  • Develop next steps for the implementation of Healthy Children New York.
