Basic Environmental Health Program Foundations of Public Health Practice
Radiation Health (EH 104C)
This half-day in person class includes the following topics:
- Overview of the Bureau of Environmental Radiation Protection and identification of Bureau’s Responsibilities
- Radiation Basics (what is it, time-distance-shielding, etc.)
- Biological Effects
- Uses of radioactive materials/radiation equipment
- Radon
- Emergency response (EAG)
- Electromagnetic fields
First priority for this course is given to local and state health department personnel who are required to take the BEHP. Second priority is given to individuals registered for the Foundations of Public Health Practice certificate program. Other public health staff may register on a space-available basis.
