The Center for Global Health was established at the University at Albany School of Public Health in September 2008 by Dean Philip Nasca under the direction of Professor Carol Whittaker. The purpose of the Center for Global Health is to serve as a focal point for international research, education, collaborations, and programs.
Education:
The Center for Global Health has partnered with the Peace Corps to provide a Master’s International degree program for MPH students. For more information about this program, click here.
The center also provides students with opportunities for international health advocacy, education, research, and work experiences focusing on global health both within the United States and abroad. In the future, CGH hopes to establish a Global Health Concentration within the MPH program.

Conferences:
The Center for Global Health is working in collaboration with the New York State Department of Health, the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, and the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center to present a one-day conference titled Congenital Syphilis: Focus on Latin America. The conference is scheduled to take place on May 1, 2009 at the University at Albany School of Public Health. For more information and registration for the conference, please click here.
The Fifth Annual GIS & Public Health Conference will be taking place at the University at Albany School of Public Health on May 5, 2009. The theme of this conference is international health. In addition, two training classes will be offered on May 6th: A morning class on using Google Earth for public health and an afternoon class on a new SAS-based small area aggregation tool. Seminar Series:
The Center for Global Health presents weekly Global Health Seminars at the School of Public Health. These seminars are open to faculty, staff, students, and the community. Collaborations:
The Center for Global Health is working to establish relationships with international universities and public health agencies. We are currently focusing on Costa Rica, Russia, Mexico, South Africa, Turkey, the Republic of Georgia, Mongolia, and Vietnam.
