Dawn Bleyenburg elected to national board

Dawn Bleyenburg elected to the Division Board for Professional Preparation and Practice of the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing

Dawn Bleyenburg, MS, MCHES, director of the University at Albany School of Public Health’s Center for Public Health Continuing Education (CPHCE) has been elected to the Division Board for Professional Preparation and Practice (DBPPP) of the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC). The DBPPP works to promoting professional preparation through work with colleges, universities and accrediting agencies to improve professional preparation programs.

A health educator for more than 15 years, Ms. Bleyenburg’s leads CPHCE, one of the primary sources for continuing education for the public health and health care workforce in New York State. Among the programs she directs are the award-winning Public Health Live (T2B2) webcast series and other nationally known distance learning trainings. CPHCE offers nursing, medical and certified health education specialist credits for many of its programs.

Ms. Bleyenburg holds a master’s degree in School and College Health Education and a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Her credentials include Master Certified Health Education Specialist, Certified Child Care Health Consultant, as well as an Expert Synchronous Producer. She is a 2010 Northeast Public Health Leadership Institute graduate and currently serves as Treasurer on the Executive Board for the NYS Public Health Association.

Ms. Bleyenburg will serve a 5-year term beginning January 2017.
