Dental Public Health Residency

The Bureau of Dental Health provides a unique experience for dentists interested in pursuing a career in dental public health. Residents will be enrolled and/or have access to graduate programs of the School of Public Health and the vast resources of the Health Department, including some of the nation's best data banks. 

The New York State Department of Health provides a unique experience for dentists interested in pursuing a career in dental public health. The Health Department sponsors a 12-month full time or 24-month part time dental public health residency program. Residents will have access to the vast resources at the Health Department as well as access to graduate programs of the School of Public Health. Graduates of the program are awarded a certificate of completion that meets educational requirements established by the American Board of Dental Public Health for specialty certification.

Admission Requirements

  • DDS or DMD degree or foreign equivalent
  • MPH or equivalent degree
  • Transcripts from dental school and school of public health
  • 3 letters of recommendation
  • Completed application form
  • CV or resume

Financial Considerations

Stipends are available. There are no tuition or application fees.
