Dr. Reliene garners new grant on the assessement of carcinogenicity of nanosilver in DNA repair deficient mouse model. Nanosilver/silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are widely used nanotechnology-enabled consumer products, and oral intake is the major route of exposure to AgNPs in the general population. Thus, it is important to understand whether AgNPs are genotoxic and /or carcinogenic when ingested orally. The research will provide important infomation for toxicoligcial research of AgNPs and the development of safer nanoparticles.
