Extreme Events II: Preparedness Training for Faith-Based Organizations

Summary

Full day training combining lecture, workshops, and discussion for leaders from all sectors of public health, emergency response, and community outreach with a focus on establishing self-sufficient communities in emergency preparedness and response through establishing community partnerships, effective communication systems, and identifying non-governmental agencies to support community efforts.

Objectives

  1. Identify the importance of community-based emergency preparedness 
  2. Discuss self-sufficiency during the first 72 hours following a disaster 
  3. Enhance awareness of personal and family emergency preparedness
  4. Recognize the elements of effective community-wide communication
  5. Increase awareness of the availability of NGO’s during emergencies
