8th Annual GIS Day

The 8th Annual GIS Day Conference and Training Workshop will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2012 and Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the School of Public Health. The theme for this year’s program is Public Participatory GIS. Speakers for the conference include:

David Scales, HealthMap

Tara Salerno, New York Natural Heritage Program

Richard Welty, Open Street Map

Timothy Hawthorne, Georgia State University

Participants in the Training Workshop will work in small groups to create data collection forms, collect data in a local community and take pictures in the field using mobile devices. The information and pictures collected will be displayed on the Internet in interactive maps.
