Communication During Crisis: The Role of Media During Public Health Emergencies

Dr. Starr co-directs the Knight Center for Science and Medical Journalism at Boston University. The Knight Center strives to improve the quality of science and medical journalism worldwide by training students and veteran journalists to recognize, investigate, analyze and explain scientific and medical findings and issues. In this 1.5-hour forum, Dr. Starr will lead discussion about the role of the media during public health emergencies. Is their role to allay fears or relay facts?  How can the media best communicate issues surrounding bioterrorism to the public?  How can the relationship between the media and public health professionals during public health emergencies be improved?
