Appointment to ACGME Residency Review Committee for Preventive Medicine

Mary S. Applegate, MD, associate dean for Public Health Practice and director of the New York State Preventive Medicine Residency Program, has been appointed to the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Residency Review Committee for Preventive Medicine. ACGME is an independent accrediting organization overseeing the evaluation and accreditation of medical residency programs in the United States. Since 1996, Dr. Applegate has directed the New York State Preventive Medicine Residency program, jointly sponsored by the New York State Department of Health and the UAlbany School of Public Health. Nationally, she serves as one of 11 members of the American Board of Preventive Medicine. Dr. Applegate completed preventive medicine residency training at the New York State Department of Health. She is a Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine and a member of the Delta Omega Public Health Honor Society.
