SPH Faculty and Student to Participate in National Food Day Event

Janine Jurkowski, assistant professor of Health Policy, Management and Behavior, and Sarah Johnson, a graduate student in the School of Public Health, will participate on a faculty and student panel discussing Food - Security and Health as part of the University's recognition of National Food Day 2011, Monday, October 24, 2011 at noon.  The program discussion will focus on hunger from a local and global perspective, the issue of access to health food in low-income areas, and childhood obesity.  Jurkowski will discuss her work using a community-based participatory research approach to understanding and addressing childhood obesity among low income families.  One of several programs planned as part of the University's October is Community Service Month celebration, the event will be held in the Campus Center Room 375 and is open to the public.
