Diversity Awards

Carson Carr Graduate Diversity Scholars

These awards are designed to foster a diverse graduate student body by recruiting, enrolling and retaining students who meet certain eligibility criteria in doctoral and masters degree programs. All awards are competitive and merit-based. Prospective recipients of the awards may apply directly or may be nominated by graduate programs, but all must complete the Carson Carr Scholar application form and send it to:

Dr. Betty Shadrick
Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies
University at Albany, UAB 121
1400 Washington Avenue
Albany, NY 12222

A copy of the application must also be submitted to Caitlin Reid, Assistant Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs, School of Public Health at cmreid@albany.edu or faxed to 518-402-0329.

Eligibility: Applicants must be U.S. citizens or have permanent residency and must have completed an application for graduate study at the University. The Selection Committee will give special consideration to students who are of a race or ethnicity that is underrepresented in our graduate and professional programs, but will not make awards solely on that basis. Every applicant will be evaluated on his or her own merits.

Applications: For new students the Carson Carr Graduate Diversity Scholar application deadline corresponds with the departmental application deadline for financial assistance.

Current UAlbany students need to submit their applications no later than April 15.
