| James Acker's interests include
the integration of social science into law,
and legal doctrine related to criminal justice,
including criminal procedure, criminal law,
juvenile justice, and capital punishment
law. His principal scholarship has been
in the areas of death penalty law and the
judicial uses of social science research.
He has co-authored a series of articles
examining capital punishment legislation,
which appears in the Criminal Law Bulletin.
Other publications have appeared in the
Law and Society Review, the Criminal Justice
Review, Justice Quarterly, Law and Human
Behavior, Law and Policy, and the Vanderbilt
Law Review. He is co-author of Basic Legal
Research for Criminal Justice and the Social
Sciences, and Criminal Procedure: A Contemporary
Perspective, and Criminal Law (Jones &
Bartlett Publishers), and (with his daughter
Elizabeth) Two Voices on the Legal Rights
of America’s Youth (Wadsworth/Thomson
Learning). He is co-editor of America's
Experiment with Capital Punishment: Reflections
on the Past, Present and Future of the Ultimate
Penal Sanction (Carolina Academic Press). |
