M.A. Program Requirements
The
M.A. degree requires the successful completion
of 30 credits of course work with a cumulative
grade point average of at least 3.0. Up to six
(6) credits of graduate level studies completed
elsewhere may be applied toward the required
30 credits. Appropriate courses may be taken
outside of the School of Criminal Justice at
this University, and credits earned applied
toward the M.A. degree in criminal justice.
Students should receive the approval of their
academic advisor before enrolling in such courses.
To
satisfy requirements for the M.A. degree, students
must:
1)
Complete 30 credits of course work with a
B (3.0) or better grade point
average
2)
Complete two foundation courses:
CRJ 640 - Theories of Criminal Justice
CRJ 607 - Criminological Theory
3)
Complete the support sequence of statistics
and research design:
CRJ 504 - Statistics (or equivalent)
CRJ 505 - Research Design (or equivalent)
4)
Pass the M.A. comprehensive examination
5)
Comply with the University's statute of limitations
requirement by
completing all study for
which credit is applied to the M.A., including
any
transfer credit, within
six years
