What motivates you to support UAlbany?

"I trace the series of events and opportunities that led to my positions in government, the private sector, and academe to my time at the Rockefeller College.  In working toward my M.A. in Political Science, my courses in international political economy with Professor Walter Goldstein (now emeritus) and the thesis I wrote on the politics of U.S.-Canada Free Trade under the direction of Steven Livingston (now at Middle Tennessee State), among others, provided the basis for my first positions in the NYS Assembly and Department of Economic Development, and later to my roles as Director of Policy for the Office and Canada and then Director of NAFTA Affairs at the U.S. Commerce Department.  My subsequent consulting work for Deloitte and my PhD at George Washington allowed me to continue my exploration of the important interactions among business and government in the global environment, an interest that remains as my primary teaching and research focus today.  Having now been in the academic world for more than 20 years, I have come to fully appreciate the quality of teaching, research, and connection to practice at the Rockefeller College. It is an honor to be able to provide some small help for others who I hope will have similar opportunities to my own."
