Q & A with Jaime Ian Daley, MPA '07

If you had to condense your job description into an elevator pitch, how would it read?

Jaime: I manage a group of intelligence analysts who focus on terrorism and other homeland security issues that face New York State.

How did Rockefeller College prepare you for your career?

Jaime: The homeland security content-specific courses aside, I think the general coursework in the MPA program is extremely helpful, especially as you grow through the management ranks. You definitely appreciate those courses more after the fact!

How did Rockefeller's location in New York's capital add to your experience as a student? Was its location advantageous over other regions or cities?

Jaime: I moved Upstate from New York City. Attending public administration courses in the Capital Region with other state workers definitely added to the experience and gave me a perspective of state service outside the homeland security niche.

In what ways do you feel Rockefeller's faculty added to your experience, career opportunities, etc.?

Jaime: I was fortunate to be taught and advised by some great terrorism researchers — Drs. Victor Asal and Karl Rethemeyer. Our staff continues to rely on their expertise to help us evaluate the current threat environment and how it matters to New Yorkers.
