2. Submit this form to the Political Science Dept by Wednesday, October 17, or bring it to your
30-minute interview. Include the following items along with your application:

a) A copy of your current course audit or unofficial transcript, with grades.

b) A copy of a paper you have written for a political science or related course. A research paper is preferred.

c) A short statement (1-2 paragraphs) explaining why you want to participate in this program, and what you hope to do on it.

d) A resume or short summary or other activities and employment

3. Sign up for a 30 minute interview at the Contact Office (Ten Broeck) with Prof. Malbin. These will be scheduled for students who are not in POS Honors Program on October 17 (W) and October 18 (Th) in the morning and early afternoon. Because Professor Malbin is based in Washington, it is important to sign up for an appointment in a timely manner. Bring your application and course audit to the interview.

4. Current honors students should meet with Prof. Malbin before these dates. They must submit their applications and supporting papers by October 17.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

1. POS Honors students will be given priority if they apply in time. Honors students may use the 400-level seminar to work on their honors papers.

2. All others will be expected to participate in an honors-level seminar. Selection based on GPA, writing sample, essay and interview. Non-majors who have satisfied the prerequisites are invited to apply.

LATE APPLICANTS:

We will consider applications filed after the deadline, but only if a student meets the program's criteria and if there is still room.

NEXT STEPS:

1. We will decide whether applicants have been accepted, rejected or wait-listed before pre-registration begins. Accepted students will be notified

2. Accepted students will have one week to preregister for these courses. If you fail to preregister in time, you may be replaced.

3. There will be two or three mandatory meetings in the fall in November or December for all pre-registered students. These will be scheduled at a time to be determined (probably Tuesday evening or Wednesday afternoon). Between these dates students will make individual appointments to work on job placement and other issues.

4. Tuesday, December 4, is the last day for a pre-registered student to drop the program without substantial financial penalty.
