The graduate certificates in Public Management, Nonprofit Management and Leadership, Women & Public Policy, and Public Security Studies are designed to develop student capabilities and expand student interests. Each can be taken by itself, or as as exploratory study leading to the MPA or MPP, or as an add-on to the MPA or MPP degree.

• Students beginning with one of these certificates who decide to continue on for an MPA or
MPP may count toward the masters all the certificate courses they have taken that fit their
proposed course of masters study.
• Students in the MPA or MPP programs or graduates of these programs may decide to
extend their coursework to obtain one of these certificates by taking at least three additional
courses not counted toward their masters.
• Graduates of our MPA or MPP programs should also be aware of the opportunity to further their studies by pursuing the Certificate for Advanced Study in Planning and Policy Analysis.
