Holly Jarman, who served this year as visiting professor of political science at Rockefeller College, recently completed her Ph.D. in political science at the London School of Economics. Her research and publications deal with health policy reform, the devolution of power in the United Kingdom, and NGO lobbying in EU trade policy. Jarman’s work has appeared in edited volumes and in the journal Politics, and she has presented her research at university forums and the American Political Science Association and Political Studies Association conferences. Her dissertation is titled “Imagined Commodities: The New Trade Politics in the EU and United States.” The study is a comparative inquiry into the use of nontrade issues, including environmental and labor standards, as weapons and incentives in EU and U.S. trade policy. Jarman also brings to Rockefeller College valuable research and policy experience in the public and nonprofit sectors. In the U.K., she worked as a research assistant for an MP, spent time at the Department of Health, and was a researcher with the Constitution Unit, a leading research institute located at University College London. She was also the National Coordinator for the Global Trade Project at Americans for Democratic Action, a nonprofit organization located in Washington, D.C.
