A Look Inside the Professional Applications Class

PAD 508 is the second course in the Professional Applications sequence. It focuses on several topics related to personal and professional values, behaviors, and issues that you will encounter throughout your career, including personal management and self-awareness, personal and organizational values and ethics, career management, and cultural diversity values.

Over the course of three days, the course explores

  • how students, as professionals in the public service, interact with others who think differently
         and/or have different personal identities.
  • how to create an organizational environment that encourages people to listen supportively to      others who have different thinking styles and/or come from different backgrounds,
  • how personal and professional values interact with organizational values
  • how individual ethics come into play in organizational decision making

In the end the course suggests a process for developing long-term personal and professional career goals that push us all to “stretch."
