Memorial Service for Professor Holly Sims Planned for June 24 in Milne Hall
Holly Sims, associate professor of public administration and policy at Rockefeller College, University at Albany, died May 5 in Albany, NY.
A memorial service for Professor Sims will be held on Monday, June 24 at 4:00 p.m. in Milne Hall, Room 200, on the University's downtown campus, 135 Western Avenue, Albany. All members of the University at Albany community are welcome to attend.
Dr. Sims had been a member of the Rockefeller faculty since 1989. Throughout her long service to the University, she was called upon to share her considerable expertise in many areas, including environmental policy, international development, and bureaucratic politics.
Professor Sims earned her master's in Asian Studies from the University of Wisconsin and PhD in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley. Her thesis on water policy in India and Pakistan was highly regarded. The recipient of three Fulbright Awards, she was an accomplished scholar fluent in Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi and French and taught all over the world. Her idealism and passion for teaching will be greatly missed.
