Center for Women in Government & Civil Society
to Present at TEDxAlbany, Nov 14
Rockefeller College's Center for Women in Government & Civil Society (CWGCS) will present at TEDxAlbany on Thursday morning, November 14.
Drawing from the strategic plan developed by the Capital Region Economic Development Council (CREDC), specifically the expressed goals of opening new doors and preparing for tomorrow, CWGCS Deputy Director Cara Long will talk about the progress and impact women have made and could make in the area of economic development using the following indicators: education, employment & leadership. Ms. Long will be joined by Karen Bilowith, president and CEO of the Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region, who will discuss the impact that regional philanthropic efforts—of, by and for women—have had on economic development efforts that benefit the community as a whole. Together, they will focus on the future of the Capital Region and the role that women can and must play in creating vital, robust and healthy communities where economic opportunity is more broadly accessed.
The TEDxAlbany event will be held at Overit in Albany, NY and will feature a mix of local and national voices, an after-hours networking event and other fun surprises for attendees to enjoy.
Created in the spirit of TED's mission, "ideas worth spreading," the TEDx program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis.
